Bank of Utah hires Carlos A. Lopez to join its mortgage consulting team

Bank of Utah has appointed Carlos A. Lopez to serve as a mortgage consultant based in the bank’s Orem branch.

He will be responsible for building client relationships of trust, so he can better identify and custom tailor a mortgage that is best suited for their long- and short-term financial goals, as well as their payment and equity objectives, while staying current on mortgage products and regulations.

“My experience as a mortgage consultant provides me with the opportunity to meet with a variety of people and serve them in an array of unique situations,” said Lopez. “This career enables me to not only strengthen my skills but learn how to tailor my proficiency for each situation.”

Lopez has worked as a mortgage consultant for 12 years in Arizona, Idaho and Utah. He holds a degree in International Studies from Brigham Young University and has dual-fluency in English and Spanish.

“I’m certain Carlos will prove a valuable addition to our mortgage team in Orem,” said Bank of Utah President and CEO Douglas L. DeFries. “His knowledge and experience in mortgage lending and his exceptional language abilities are a winning combination.

Lender slams "myths" around custom lending

The lender says it has seen growing numbers of people denied loans by traditional lenders, for reasons such as employment type, credit impairment or loan purpose.

Group sales manager John Mohnacheff says it is vital that brokers do not turn people away who are in need of financial solutions. But many brokers believe that custom loans will increase their workload, whether by paperwork or extra processes.

"First and foremost, if you’re going to call yourself a broker, then you ought to be trained in every form of home loan there is,” Mohnacheff says.

"If you’re going to say, I am a mortgage broker, you can’t say I only do basic loans.

"There might be a misunderstanding or a misconception that custom loans are difficult to do, but purely and simply it’s a home loan. The individual’s circumstances are a little bit different to what we regard as a prime loan, but that’s it.

"At some point in life, any borrower can find themselves in difficulty whether that be marital, financial or personal. For example, no one struck with a major illness prioritises their home loan over their medical treatment,"

Has anyone heard of Custom Mortgage Solutions?

They are a refinance company. They did bait and switch on a friend of mine. Very bad people. My friend is considering suing and has notified authorities. Any other organization or group she should contact.

Is she about to go into foreclosure? If so I can help contact me at put wshusa in subject.
