The Coast Guard is also under the cosh. In addition to keeping its 55,000 employees from receiving pay, the shutdown has paused all non-essential work, which could start to limit the missions it can conduct.

Congress is starting its work on transportation despite the ongoing deadlock. In the Senate, the Commerce Committee held an organizational meeting Wednesday to kick off the legislative session, and Republicans announced their list of members for the House Transportation Committee.

Paullina Man Escapes Injury In Plymouth County Traffic Crash

Plymouth County authorities say a 1999 International semi tractor pulling a trailer was northbound on Nature Avenue, driven by 28-year old Peter Matthews of Paullina. Authorities say Matthews failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Nature Avenue and 190th Street, about five miles east of Le Mars. Deputies say a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 73-year old Paul Gustafson of Remsen was eastbound on 190th Street, and was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with Matthews’ semi. After impact, the semi entered the northeast corner of the intersection where it struck a sign post and came to rest.

Gustafson was reportedly taken to the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars by the Le Mars Ambulance.

Deputies say Matthews was cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way, Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.

Damage the Matthews semi, which was operating for Semper Fi Farms Trucking of Paullina, was estimated at $6-thousand, with about $45-hundred damage estimated to Gustafson’s Blazer. The road sign, owned by Plymouth County, received an estimated $2-hundred in damage.

What is a typical work day like for a Marine and hours? Is work 7 days a week?

Are you given special orders to do other things?
I will have an office job in financial management such as payroll work. Im asking all this as a Poole and I'm not saying a Marine yet. Semper Fidelis.

If you are coming in as admin, then it is hard telling what your hours might be. During the initial pipe line (Boot camp, MOS School) you will be on a VERY strict schedule. You will get nights off in admin school, but there will be some studying for tests.
